About Departed Digital

A calmer way to close online accounts after a loss.

Departed Digital exists because the online side of a death is harder than most people expect. Social media profiles, email accounts and other services stay open long after someone has died. Families are left to work through platform forms, document requests and repeated chasing, at the worst possible time.

What the service is

We do the work for you.

Departed Digital handles the platform side for families in the UK and abroad. We send the removal or memorialisation requests, ask for the right documents at the right stage, and keep a clear record of what has been sent and what has been resolved.

The point is not more admin. The point is to take the task off your hands, so it does not sit unfinished for months.

Closing unused accounts is also a small kindness to the internet: less clutter, and less data held about someone who has gone.

What it is not

Not another website that fills in forms.

This is not another portal or a cold piece of software. You start with the basics, pay when you are ready, and only deal with sensitive documents once the case is under way.

We never ask for passwords or direct access to an account. We use each platform's own process for bereaved families.

Principles

How the service is designed.

Calm first step

The first step should feel manageable, even when nothing else does.

Respectful handling

Every case is private, careful and properly recorded from start to finish.

Useful for partners too

Funeral directors need a simple introduction, not another service that adds work for their team.

Trust

Why families and partners should feel comfortable using it.

  • Built in the UK, for families in the UK and around the world.
  • We never ask for passwords or control of an account.
  • Documents come later, not in the first step.
  • Every case ends with a written record for the family's files.
  • The same process works for families directly, or through a funeral director.
